On Saturday 19th April, our office opened its doors for a very special cause — a lemonade and bake sale fundraiser in support of Riverside West End Football Club’s Under-14 Girls Team.
And what a fantastic day it turned out to be!
From the moment we set up the table filled with homemade cakes, biscuits, traybakes and fresh lemonade, there was a great wee atmosphere. Locals stopped by in great numbers throughout the day, not just to support the fundraiser, but to have a chat, meet the girls, and enjoy some homemade treats.
The team we were supporting are a talented group of girls who are currently playing in a competitive U14s league. As you can imagine, keeping a grassroots club running, especially with kits, equipment, and travel, takes real dedication and ongoing support. That’s where the idea for the fundraiser came from: a simple but fun way to help with one of the essentials; kits for the season.
A huge part of what made the day so special was the involvement of the players themselves. A huge thank you goes out to Daisy, Freya-Rose, Ailie K, Eilidh, Sofia K, and our daughter Sofia, who all gave up their Saturday to help out. The girls were friendly, confident, and absolutely brilliant at getting involved. They served cakes, greeted visitors, helped tidy up, and even went door to door visiting other High Street shops to ask for donations, showing just how committed they are, not only to their sport but to their team spirit too!
Most of the girls came dressed in their kits, which gave visitors the chance to see just who they were supporting. It brought a real sense of pride and purpose to the event, seeing the faces behind the team, all smiles and full of energy, whilst stuffing their wee faces with cakes!
Thanks to your support, we managed to raise an amazing £464.70. Every penny will go directly towards the club to help provide kits for the girls throughout the season. It might seem like a small thing, but for a local club, being able to kit out the players properly makes a big difference, in terms of identity, confidence, and practicality.
We’ve proudly displayed the total in our office window so that everyone passing by can see the result of a true community effort. It’s a reminder that even a small local event can have a big impact when people come together.
We want to extend a thank you to everyone who supported us, whether you baked, donated, bought a treat, or simply popped in for a chat. It meant the world to the girls, and to everyone involved in the club.
We’re proud to be part of such a supportive village, and we’re already thinking about what we can do next. Keep an eye on our window (and online!) for future events, and let’s keep the momentum going.
Together, we can keep supporting the young people who are making a difference – on and off the pitch!
